Writer/director Daniel Auteuil follows his 2024 hit The Thread with WHEN NIGHT FALLS, an historical drama based on the true story of a civil servant and priest who worked during the WWII occupation of France to try and save children from deportation.
August 1942. The Vichy government issued directives to round-up Jews and the homeless. In Lyon, hundreds of families are sent to the Vénissieux internment camp where a young official, Gilbert Lesage (César-winner Antoine Reinartz, BPM, Anatomy of a Fall), is put in charge of the commission that will decide their fate. While the police and politicians press to satisfy Vichy, Father Glasberg (Auteuil) covertly manoeuvres to protect as many people as possible.
