WINNER – 2026 GAUDÍ AWARDS – Best Original Screenplay
2026 GOYA AWARD NOMINEE - Best Actress

The effervescent, crowd-pleasing new comedy from Cesc Gay (Truman, A Gun In Each Hand, and The People Upstairs, which recently formed the basis for Olivia Wilde’s The Invite) stars a luminous Nora Navas (Pain & Glory) as a middle-aged woman who dares to disrupt her carefully constructed life in pursuit of one last, intoxicating chance at romance.

On a business trip in Rome, Eva (Navas), on the cusp of turning 50, shares a fleeting but electric encounter with Argentine screenwriter Álex (Rodrigo de la Serna, The Motorcycle Diaries, Money Heist). The connection rekindles something long dormant - desire, spontaneity, and the dizzying thrill of possibility. Back in Barcelona with her husband (Juan Diego Botto, The Room Next Door) and teenage children, Eva finds herself unable to return to the rhythms of her former life. As the pull of this unexpected awakening intensifies, Eva makes a radical choice that blindsides her family and friendships, forcing everyone around her to confront their own ideas of love, loyalty, and reinvention.

Witty, perceptive, and deeply humane, MY FRIEND EVA explores the pitfalls of choosing passion over stability, and the complicated, often comic realities of starting over when life is already well underway.
