OPENING NIGHT GALA - 2026 SPANISH & LATIN AMERICAN FILM FESTIVAL
A sweeping story of class, tradition, and reinvention, writer/director Ricardo de Montreuil's delicious melodrama stars Bárbara Mori as a Franco-Peruvian woman whose life unravels after her husband's leaves her, inspiring her to embark on a transformative culinary journey.
Lima, 1965. Norma Piet (Mori), a Paris-born trophy wife ensconced in Peru’s elite social circles, sees her world collapse when her powerful husband abandons her for a younger woman. Cast out amid public scandal and mounting debts, she must confront a reality far removed from the privilege she has always known. As her initial shock gives way to resolve, Norma forms unexpected alliances with those she was raised to overlook, including her chauffeur Oscar (Pudy Ballumbrosio), a gifted musician whose own ambitions have been constrained by race and social standing. Together, they forge a new path as Norma revives a long-abandoned dream: opening a restaurant that celebrates Peru’s rich culinary heritage.
Astutely blending the sensual pleasures of a culinary drama with a stirring story of personal awakening, MISTURA is a vibrant tribute to the rich diversity of Peru's culture and cuisine, a forward-looking flashback set in a time of profound change.
