Writer/director Julien Rappeneau’s follow-up to his 2016 debut hit Rosalie Blum, also based on a graphic novel, OF LOVE AND LIES is an uplifting story about the unlimited power of a child’s love, and the lengths that one boy will go to to help get his father’s life back on track.

Twelve-year old Theo (Maleaume Paquin), small for his age, is the star of his local soccer club and dreams of one day going pro. But his father (François Damiens) has been on a self-destructive spiral ever since he started drinking and got divorced, and Theo feels powerless and anxious as he watches his dad slowly destroying his own life. But he refuses to give up on him. When a recruiter for powerhouse British club takes notice of Theo for a development squad, Theo sees something rekindle in his father, but despite his best efforts he isn’t selected. Devastated by the news, and desperate not to let his Dad down, Theo decides to lie and say that he was chosen. But the deception soon spirals completely out of control, with lasting consequences for all.
